The top 8 things to look forward to at Open Day 2017

Open Day is your chance to get to know La Trobe before you start your course in Semester 1. There’s loads of important information to take in, and much fun to be had.

We’ve pored over everything happening at Open Day this year, and picked out the things you definitely shouldn’t miss.

See you there!

1. Win great prizes

Want to win a $4,500 travel voucher? How about tickets to The Australian Ballet’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland? All these will be up for grabs at Open Day, along with heaps of other freebies.

2. Plant a tree with an iPad

Our Living Landscapes project lets you get your creative juices flowing and help protect a vital habitat at the same time. In the style of iconic artist David Hockney, you’ll create a plant using an iPad and virtually plant it on a scale replica of our 30 hectare Wildlife Sanctuary. For every virtual plant created, one will be planted in real life!

3. Take a virtual reality tour

Our health students get to practise what they learn in our clinical schools, located at hospitals such as the Alfred. We can’t bring the Alfred to campus, but you can explore our Alfred Clinical school at Open Day through the magic of virtual reality!

Exploring La Trobe’s campuses is hungry work, so we’re bringing in an army of food trucks to keep you well fed throughout the day. Look out for the mouth-watering wares of Let’s Waffle and Shake, Poké Time, Von Crumb, Toasta, Rai Thai Food Truck, Greek Street Food, Crepes for Change, Mr Burger and Dip’d Donuts.

You’ll be listening to a lot of important course-related information throughout the day, but that’s not all we’re serving up. Not one, not two, but three radio stations will be broadcasting live from campus, including Nova 100 and La Trobe Radio. We’ll also have live bands and DJs on hand to keep you entertained all day long.
