Meeting minimum ATAR requirements doesn’t guarantee your admission. Your success may depend on your academic record, experience and other factors compared with other applicants.

FAQS
First, ATAR stands for ‘Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank’ and it’s one of the main factors in determining your eligibility for a tertiary course.
The ATAR is a ranking of your Year 12 results, compared to all other final year students across Australia. Take a look at our ‘What is an ATAR?’ page for more details.
In Victoria, the ATAR is calculated by VTAC after you complete the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE). The ATAR is a number between 0 and 99.95, and it’s made up of the scaled study scores from your top four scoring subjects (including at least one English subject), plus 10% of your fifth and sixth subjects.
Some subjects scale up or down, and once your study scores are added together, they form an aggregate. This is then converted into your ATAR.
VTAC scales subjects to ensure that you’re not advantaged or disadvantaged based on your subject choice.

At La Trobe, you’re more than a number. To help you get to where you want to be, we offer pathways.
A pathway helps you get into your chosen course through another qualification. If you don't have the required ATAR, you could transfer into a Bachelor's degree by studying a Diploma first. For example, you may complete a Diploma in Business to be eligible for the Bachelor of Accounting.
Some courses do not offer a pathway. You can find pathway information for each course on our website, just click on the ‘Entry requirements & pathways’ tab for each course page.
