Workshop and seminar program

Female candidate animated in discussionThe Graduate Research School RED team deliver an active range of programs in a broad range of areas including career development, communicating your research, managing your research, supervising graduate researchers, research funding and how to get it, research writing and publication, and commercialisation and research entrepreneurship.

A number of our programs are tailored to specific Colleges, and run across our campus network. Bookmark this page, and stay up-to-date about the RED program by signing up to Graduate Research Scholar. You can keep up with all our news and join the La Trobe researcher community by subscribing to our blog, The RED Alert. We suggest you check your Clutter folder regularly to ensure the Red Alert and Scholar newsletters don't end up in there. You can also follow us on Twitter and 'Like' our page on Facebook.

RED workshops and COVID-19

In line with the advice from the Vice-Chancellor the RED team is adjusting our programs so that we can keep you safe while you continue your research. We are redesigning our programs, where possible, to make them available to you at a distance.

We are also adding new programs to support you while you adjust to these new working arrangements. All Shut Up and Write Sessions are now available on Zoom. If you have suggestions for what you’d like to see, or have developed a new practice or online event that you would like to share, please contact us.

For more information about La Trobe’s response to COVID-19, you can view our online statement and FAQs.

2021 program

Audience: GR = graduate researcher, S = supervisor, ECR= Early Career Researcher
Campus: M = Melbourne, B = Bendigo, AW = Albury Wodonga, MIL = Mildura, S = Shepparton, C = City, O = Online

Missed a workshop?

Researchers are busy, and we work in a global community with people in different time zones, so we anticipate that there will be workshop times that may not suit everyone. The resources for some of the core RED workshops are available offline by request. If you are interested in a workshop that you were unable to attend, you can register to receive these materials via the following link:

Request form

You are also welcome to contact us at red.grs@latrobe.edu.au if you have any questions.

Weekly

Shut up and write! (SUAW) - Weekly facilitated writing sessions are designed to help researchers get their writing done! SUAW sessions happen every day of the week - mostly via Zoom. SUAW sessions are open to all researchers, and they're hosted by the RED team and other researchers across the La Trobe network. We use the Pomodoro technique of focused 25-minute writing sprints interleaved with short breaks.

How to sign up

To join in on our Shut up and write! (SUAW) writing sessions please email red.grs@latrobe.edu.au to sign up to the mailing list.
