Windows 10

  1. Click the Wireless Network icon in the Task Bar near the bottom-right corner of the screen.
  2. Click eduroam.
  3. Click Connect.
  4. Enter your La Trobe account username e.g. 01234567@students.ltu.edu.au
  5. Enter your La Trobe account password.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click Connect.

Windows 8

  1. Move your mouse to the top-right corner of your screen to display the Charm Bar and click Settings.
  2. Click the Wireless Network icon.
  3. Click eduroam.
  4. Click Connect.
  5. Enter your LTU username e.g. 01234567@students.ltu.edu.au
  6. Enter your LTU password and click OK.
  7. Click Connect.

Windows 7

  1. Right-click the Network Connection icon in the taskbar.
  2. Click Open Network and Sharing Center.
  3. Select Manage wireless networks.
  4. Click Add.
  5. Click Manually create a network profile.
  6. Enter eduroam for the Network name.
  7. Select WPA2-Enterprise from the Security type drop-down-list.
  8. Select AES from the Encryption type drop-down-list.
  9. Click Next.
  10. Click Change connection settings.
  11. Click the Security tab.
  12. Click Settings.
  13. Click Configure.
  14. Un-tick the Automatically use my Windows logon name and password check-box and click OK.
  15. Close all open windows.
  16. When the message balloon appears in the taskbar asking you to enter additional information, click on the message balloon and then select Enter/select additional logon information.
  17. Enter your LTU username e.g. 01234567@students.ltu.edu.au
  18. Enter your LTU password and click OK.

Known errors

Toshiba RTL8187B

Error: Toshiba notebooks with an RTL8187B wireless network adapter may be unable to connect.
Solution: Install the latest drivers for the wireless adapter from the Toshiba website.

Atheros network adapter

Error: Notebooks with an Atheros AR956x series wireless network adapter may be unable to connect.
Solution: Purchase a USB Wireless adapter. The Edimax EW-7811UTC AC600 is compatible with the La Trobe Network.
