- Click the Wireless Network icon in the Task Bar near the bottom-right corner of the screen.
- Click eduroam.
- Click Connect.
- Enter your La Trobe account username e.g. 01234567@students.ltu.edu.au
- Enter your La Trobe account password.
- Click OK.
- Click Connect.
Windows 8
- Move your mouse to the top-right corner of your screen to display the Charm Bar and click Settings.
- Click the Wireless Network icon.
- Click eduroam.
- Click Connect.
- Enter your LTU username e.g. 01234567@students.ltu.edu.au
- Enter your LTU password and click OK.
- Click Connect.
Windows 7
- Right-click the Network Connection icon in the taskbar.
- Click Open Network and Sharing Center.
- Select Manage wireless networks.
- Click Add.
- Click Manually create a network profile.
- Enter eduroam for the Network name.
- Select WPA2-Enterprise from the Security type drop-down-list.
- Select AES from the Encryption type drop-down-list.
- Click Next.
- Click Change connection settings.
- Click the Security tab.
- Click Settings.
- Click Configure.
- Un-tick the Automatically use my Windows logon name and password check-box and click OK.
- Close all open windows.
- When the message balloon appears in the taskbar asking you to enter additional information, click on the message balloon and then select Enter/select additional logon information.
- Enter your LTU username e.g. 01234567@students.ltu.edu.au
- Enter your LTU password and click OK.
Known errors
Toshiba RTL8187B
Error: Toshiba notebooks with an RTL8187B wireless network adapter may be unable to connect.
Solution: Install the latest drivers for the wireless adapter from the Toshiba website.
Atheros network adapter
Error: Notebooks with an Atheros AR956x series wireless network adapter may be unable to connect.
Solution: Purchase a USB Wireless adapter. The Edimax EW-7811UTC AC600 is compatible with the La Trobe Network.
