EndNote

EndNote 20 and X9 is a software tool for publishing and managing bibliographies. La Trobe University has a site license, which permits all eligible staff and students of the University to use the software both at work and at home.

Installation

EndNote can be downloaded for home use via La Trobe OnTheHub (Kivuto webstore).

You can download referencing styles that match the La Trobe University core referencing styles from the Library's EndNote LibGuide for Windows and MacOS.

Students

Call Student IT Support on 1300 LA TROBE (1300 528 7623, Opt.3).

Staff

Conditions of use

The software may be used only while the user is an eligible member of La Trobe University. The licence to use the software under this agreement will terminate when you are no longer a staff member or student of the University.

The software may be used "at the site or at their principal residence". However, use of the software at the principal residence is "limited to use related to course work, research or other work directly related to the users relationship with the University".

The software must not be "copied or downloaded on to any non-eligible user's personal system for personal use".

System requirements and compatibility

EndNote will convert any Library from versions X1 on. If you have a library from an earlier version, please check the EndNote website for more information.

Troubleshooting

EndNote toolbar missing in Word

Check that the CWYW Add-In has been enabled in Word:

Windows:

  1. Open a Word document.
  2. Go to File > Options > Add-ins.
    (Word 2007: Office button (top-left) > Word Options > Add-ins)
  3. Choose Disabled Items in the Manage drop-down menu (bottom-left), and then click the Go button.
  4. Click/Select any EndNote item(s) and click the Enable button.

Mac:

  1. Open a Word document.
  2. Go to "Tools > Templates and Add-Ins".
  3. You should see the below EndNote files listed under "Global Templates and Add-ins"

    EndNote CWYW Word 2016.dotm
    and
    EndNote CWYW Word 2016.bundle
    or
    EndNote CWYW Word 16.bundle
  4. If any of these file(s) is unchecked, check it, and click OK.
