EndNote X9 is a software tool for publishing and managing bibliographies. La Trobe University has a site license, which permits all eligible staff and students of the University to use the software both at work and at home.

Product key now required

EndNote no longer support the creation of pre-authorised volume installers. This means you now need to enter a product key when installing EndNote.

Note: The product key is included in the Zip archive along with the installer for your chosen Operating System.

Updating EndNote in Windows

EndNote have removed the EndNote Program Updates option from the Help menu. To update EndNote on Windows, please use the download link above.

Conditions of use

The software may be used only while the user is an eligible member of La Trobe University. The licence to use the software under this agreement will terminate when you are no longer a staff member or student of the University.

The software may be used "at the site or at their principal residence". However, use of the software at the principal residence is "limited to use related to course work, research or other work directly related to the users relationship with the University".

The software must not be "copied or downloaded on to any non-eligible user's personal system for personal use".

EndNote X9 will convert any Library from versions X1 on. If you have a library from an earlier version, please check the EndNote website for more information.

EndNote toolbar missing in Word

  1. Navigate to the EndNote support website.
  2. Under CWYW 1, click Answer.
  3. Click the corresponding link for your Operating System, EndNote version and Microsoft Word version.
  4. Follow the instructions on the page.
