Education placements
Compulsory professional experience placements undertaken for academic credit in a school, early learning or education and care setting.
We offer professional experience placements for students with compulsory placement components in their course. Placements are organised by the Placement Partnering & Operations team with local, regional, and cultural education partners. These placements give you the opportunity to work in a supportive educational setting, integrating theory with practice, and developing the skills and experience you'll need as a teacher once you have graduated. They are organised to meet the requirements for teacher registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
We offer the opportunity for rural and interstate placements. Grants may apply to rural placements. Grant details are posted on the School of Education - LMS (Learning Management System) located in the Professional Experience tile [La Trobe log in required].
Before you go on your first placement you'll be required to obtain:
- a Working With Children Check and,
- successful completion of the La Trobe University Child Safety & Wellbeing Training on LMS. This training module takes approximately 10-20 minutes to complete, including a quiz. Upon successful completion, you'll receive a certificate, and your results will be automatically synchronised with InPlace within one week.
Access essential information relating to your placement on the School of Education - LMS located in the Professional Experience tile.
