Students commence a project that takes the equivalent of six months of continuous work under the supervision of a member of staff. The project is completed and written up as a thesis when the student completes the unit PHY5THB. All students are required to present a seminar outlining the proposed project at a time to be determined by the physics postgraduate coordinator.

Prerequisites: Must be admitted in one of the following courses: SZHSMN, SMNT, PSMSC, SZHSN Students admitted in PSMSC and SMNT must achieve an average of 65% in all their subjects over 120 CP of subjects completed in the first year of the course SMNT and PSMSC students require Course Coordinator approval

Special conditions: This subject is the first part of a 60CP thesis program (PHY5THA and PHY5THB). Students will not be given a final mark until they complete PHY5THB.
