Subject outline

In this subject you will refine and finalize your skills and knowledge necessary for competent practice as oral health therapists in a number of settings. The skills developed over the preceding two years will be integrated and refined in preparation for future graduate practice. You will be introduced to simple restorative care in adults over 25 years of age. Oral heath therapy services will be provided to children, adolescents and adults in various clinical settings, including residential care, aged care, orthodontics and special needs. You will also work in non-clinical settings to provide oral health care, health education and developing health promotion projects in rural settings. Culturally sensitive oral health care will be introduced and practiced. You will need to demonstrate competence in the full range of personal qualities and skills of the newly graduated oral health therapist.
