Subject outline
This subject provides Bachelor of Legal Studies students with a greater understanding of how their knowledge and skills can be applied in different occupational roles and contexts. By exploring applied practices in government and community sectors, and completing employment- related excercises, students are made familiar with a wide range of vocational pathways. Specific topics covered include: the structure and functions of government departments and community organizations; how these interface with the legal system, especially the criminal justice system; positions and programs within public and community sectors; relevant terms, concepts and processes including research and policy development, case-management and advocacy; working with clients groups; and practitioners' ethical and legal responsibilities. Students are strongly encouraged to complete this subject as preparation for undertaking LST3LWC: Legal Studies Workplace Competence.
