Credit points: 15
Subject outline
This subject focuses on three qualities that are essential for the citizens of the 21st century: awareness of cultural diversity, involvement with their communities, and aspiring global citizenship. This subject promotes these personal qualities by way of engaging in discussions of issues faced by individuals and groups in contemporary society by exploring three approaches - Cultural Psychology, Social Psychology, and Community Psychology. Through lectures, tutorials exercises and assignments, students will develop skills to analyse cultural influences on individual's thoughts, behaviours and community practices; examine how to build culturally diverse yet cohesive communities through interventions informed by knowledge of psychology; and to explore ways for contributing to the sustainability of humanity as responsible global citizens.
