Subject outline
In this subject students examine mobility and activities of daily living to gain a greater understanding of the challenges experienced by people with low vision or blindness. 35 hours observation with an Orientation and Mobility service provider occurs prior to commencement of the semester. The practicum is located at Bundoora campus and in the community. Content includes education and rehabilitation concepts, experience of vision-impaired mobility, design and delivery of mobility programs, evaluation of client performance and principles of service delivery. Upon completion of the subject, students will be able to assess a client's functional mobility needs and implement effective orientation and mobility intervention.
