Subject outline

In this subject students will focus on learning about research design and the principles of conducting research of relevance to the student's proposed research topic. The subject runs concurrently with the entry-level course and is offered in the summer semester at the beginning of the final year of the entry level physiotherapy courses. Students attend seminars which focus on the theoretical and pragmatic aspects of conducting research. Topics include how to develop answerable scientific questions, how to locate and critically analyse relevant literature, and how to write a systematic literature review. Emphasis is placed on encouraging students to apply principles of critical analysis. In addition to a series of course work sessions, each student works closely with a supervisor who guides the development of a research project.
