Subject outline
In this subject students will shift the focus from assessment of the well individual to assessment of risk factors and pathophysiological changes in an individual's state of health. Health assessment knowledge and skills are required for clinical decision making. This facilitates the delivery of care by enabling the diagnosis of actual/potential nurse sensitive and collaborative health problems, and the evaluation of an individual's response to therapy. Illnesses identified as Victorian health priorities will provide a context for consideration of a number of clinical assessment and decision making models and the application of such knowledge and skills.

Prerequisites Students must be enrolled in one of the following courses: RBNP, HSBNW, HBNP, HSBNC, HSBNCW, BEBND2, HBNCP, HBNCM, HBNPRG, HBNPGW, BEBN2, HBN, HBNM, HBNUP, HBNPRW, RBN and HZNM. For students enrolled in HBN, HBNM, HBNUP, HBNPRW, RBN, HZNM or HZNMD must pass NSG1ENC and HBS1HBA and HBS1HBB.
