Subject outline
The focus of this subject are the skills and knowledge required to manage information and communications technology projects. The subject takes a very practical approach by taking students from the project planning stage all the way to the project closure stage. It discusses a feasibility study, how to establish a project team, financial planning, project management tools (i.e. Gantt charts) and more conceptual topics.

01. Develop a project charter outlining the project scope
- Activities:
- Multimedia learning content will be available. This will include self-paced online practical activities and quizzes to reinforce the learning. Discussion forums will also be used for peer learning with support from academic staff as well.
02. Conduct a feasibility study
- Activities:
- In addition to the multimedia learning content, a webinar which take a student through a mock feasibility study will be used.
03. Prepare project work breakdown, schedule and budget
- Activities:
- In addition to the multimedia learning content, a webinar which take a student through a mock project will be used.
04. Explain how an IT project team is established
- Activities:
- Multimedia learning content will be available. This will include self-paced online practical activities and quizzes to reinforce the learning.
05. Review project execution
- Activities:
- A webinar will be used to explore a mock project with the students. Several scenarios will be used within the mock project to highlight situations.
06. Explain how a project closure is documented
- Activities:
- Multimedia learning content will be available. This will include self-paced online practical activities and quizzes to reinforce the learning.
