Subject outline

This subject is only available to students who have completed EMS4WIL. Students will research a project topic obtained from their involvement in WIL. The score of the project needs to be developed, together with how the work will be carried out including resource requirements, culminating in a final written report and oral presentation. The emphasis is on developing the research skills and thinking of the student. Students will work to achieve the following Engineers Australia Stage 1 Competencies: 1.3, 1.5, 1.6, 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 3.4, 3.5 and 3.6 (see intended learning outcomes for details).

Activities:
Students are expected to communicate effectively and professionally via email with colleagues and clients. Students will also report on their experience in a weekly reflective journal as well as a final report of the project/tasks that had been completed.

03. Apply learned knowledge and skills in industry. Includes EA stage 1 competencies: 1.3 In-depth understanding of specialist bodies of knowledge within the engineering discipline, 1.5 Knowledge of contextual factors impacting the engineering discipline, 1.6 Understanding of the scope, principles, norms, accountabilities and bounds of contemporary engineering practice in the specific discipline, 3.2 Effective oral and written communication.
