This subject is a transition pathway to the Bachelor of Nursing course (second year) which will enable you to complete an accelerated degree. This subject is delivered in a number of modules. Through lectures, online activities, workshops and clinical laboratories, students will develop foundational nursing knowledge and the academic and practical skills required for person-centred care, an understanding of the clinical reasoning process, enquiry-based learning, working in teams and evidence-based practice, and be able to apply human anatomy and physiology to professional nursing practice.

Activities:
Online examples including case studies and videos of a nursing health assessment framework and techniques. Workshops to discuss and practise a health history interview. Clinical skills laboratories to practise normal health assessment, conducting a health history and documentation of findings.

Activities:
Online activities providing examples of the clinical reasoning process and its use of planning nursing care. Workshop activities examining the clinical reasoning process using case study scenarios. Workshop activities examining available evidence for a selection of relevant nursing interventions. Clinical skills laboratories to develop nursing care plans.
