Subject outline
In this final year core subject, students majoring in Politics are provided with the opportunity to reflect on what they have learned about the discipline, to consolidate their theoretical and methodological skills and to explore the practical application of such skills in the world beyond the university. Students will consider different traditions in the discipline, the diverse nature of political work and the various ways in which the academic discipline informs the practice of politics. Topics covered include political communication (eg. speeches and speech-writing, report-writing and political advertising) the characteristics of leadership, negotiation and diplomacy, political activism. Students will be assessed on a variety of skills and outcomes including their ability to produce a substantive piece of political communication.
