Subject outline
In this subject, we apply ethical theory to real-life problems. In the first part, we address problems concerning decisions about life and death: the sanctity of life, abortion, and euthanasia. In the second part, we look at ethical issues raised by new technologies, including choices about reproduction, genetic enhancement, and sex selection. The first part focuses on social and global issues: the international trade in organs and body parts, global poverty, and the ethics of climate change policy.
