Subject outline

In this subject students are provided with key frameworks for identifying sound qualitative and quantitative health and public health research, and identifying and understanding research designs in the published literature that provides evidence for clinical and public health practice. Upon completion of this subject, students will be able to identify commonly used quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods research designs. They will be able to undertake a basic critical review of research reports and published papers. Students will be able to critique research reported in mainstream media and develop practice-related questions that can be addressed using existing published research.

Prerequisites If student is enrolled in HZHSID Health Sci/Intl Dev or HZHSB Health Sci/Bus, AZAHS Arts/Health Sci or HZHHIM exempt from pre-requisite. If student is enrolled in HBHS or HBHSB B Health Sci must have passed HLT2IEP or equivalent (with subject coordinator's approval)
