Subject outline
In this subject students will analyse, interpret and use coded and non-coded health data beyond the treatment and disease/operation classification stages. Key emphases include identification, critical evaluation and objective use of health data for epidomiological and clinical research; health data and statistics applications in management and clinical decision-making; performance indicators in activity-based funding environments; identification and resolution of regulatory, ethical and management issues surrounding registries, database and clinical trials; and interpretation of international health classifications for historical and longitudinally coded data. Students will become expert in ananlysing, critiquing, applying and advising upon health data in management, clinical and epidemiological environments
