Subject outline
Students complete a major research project (thesis) task on a topic relating to the wider finance discipline. This will involve the development of a research topic, and the creation and execution of a structured analysis process to answer the proposed research question(s). In undertaking this project, students will be mentored by an experienced researcher. On completion of the empirical or theoretical analysis proposed, the students must write up their results in the form of a minor 15,000-word thesis, the sole assessment for the subject. There will be no ongoing classes, apart from one or two group classes at the beginning of the subject: students work closely with a designated supervisor to complete their research project. This subject is designed to provide high-achieving students with research experience as a potential pathway into a PhD program in finance.
