Subject outline

In this subject students develop an understanding of principles and practices of effective learning and teaching as a comprehensive preparation for their practicum experience. This subject is linked to Practicum A and incorporates practices for students to become reflective practitioners. The content includes principles and practices of effective teaching (e.g. Questioning, lesson planning, classroom management, assessment, social learning, pedagogical strategies and models of teaching), the code of conduct, legal and ethical issues and teacher wellbeing. Particular attention is paid to developing skills enabling students to integrate university- and school-based learning, including teacher inquiry, critical reflection and pedagogical responsiveness to a range of school contexts.
