Subject outline
In this subject students gain an understanding of School systems which are giving increased attention to the middle years of schooling (Years 5-9). Drawing on cross-disciplinary knowledge, students study youth across late childhood through the early adolescence years, (10-15 years), their personal development, and their biological, social, and schooling transitions. Associated with these understandings is an examination of the contexts within which contemporary youth now live. Finally, there is an exploration of the pedagogic and supportive strategies that can be adopted to enhance both student learning and student well-being for this age group.
