Program types
Short term partner programs
Short term partner programs are available through La Trobe’s partner universities and approved hosts. These programs are available as either an exchange or study abroad program.
- Exchange: You pay tuition to La Trobe as per usual
- Study Abroad: You pay tuition directly to the partner university or approved host
Academic-led study tour
Academic-led study tour programs are intensive two to four-week group study tours led by La Trobe academic staff. You'll enrol in a La Trobe subject that is either partly or entirely delivered on the study tour.
Explore upcoming programs on the Programs Portal. Speak to your course coordinator about any future programs that your School plans to offer that may not yet be listed on the Programs Portal.
Before you apply for a Short term partner program
The steps below are only for short term partner program applications.
- Complete 120 credit points by departure.
- Maintain a minimum WAM (Weighted Average Mark) of 50 (higher WAM may be required for some programs).
- Ensure your study plan includes space for an overseas short program (typically elective courses).
- Visit the Programs Portal to find detailed information about each program, including whether it's an exchange or study abroad program, important dates, and how to apply.
- Most students undertake overseas short programs for elective credit. To receive elective credit for your overseas short program, you'll need to complete the Global Experience Credit Approval (GECA) application for your selected program.
- Allow at least a month prior to the application deadline to complete this step.
