Credit points: 15

This subject addresses La Trobe's Innovation and Entrepreneurship Essential. Innovation and Entrepreneurship is about using your creativity to generate new ideas, understand and solve complex problems and thrive in a fast-changing world.

Subject outline

In this capstone subject students will extend their discipline-specific research skills, team work skills and scientific communication skills by engaging in authentic scientific activities. Student teams will develop a research proposal, implement a project and present the findings. Students will gather, synthesise and critically evaluate scientific literature which will provide the foundation for development of the research question, experimental design and methodology. Budgetary, ethical, interpersonal and safety issues will be considered. Students will communicate the findings in authentic format to scientific peers (eg research article, poster) and non-expert audiences (eg website, video). This subject addresses La Trobe's Innovation & Entrepreneurship Essential. Innovation & Entrepreneurship entails developing the ability to tackle problems creatively, generating new ideas, taking calculated risks and creating change to achieve ambitions - now and in the future.
