ABS2SAB

2014

Credit points: 15

Subject outline

In this subject students will analyse the relationship between settler Australians and Aboriginal people in the light of historical knowledge and through the lens of critical whiteness studies. Life writing, oral history and documentary sources will expose students to settler Australian and Aboriginal perspectives on interactions between these communities over time. Case studies in education, health, housing, justice and employment will enable students to evaluate how acts of government reflected theories of race and had differential impact upon settler Australian and Aboriginal communities, with emphasis upon rural and regional experience.
