Domestic student enrolment

You've received an offer – now it's time to secure your place and enrol at La Trobe. We can’t wait to welcome you!

Follow the steps below to accept your offer and enrol in your course if you’re a domestic student or if you’re studying at one of La Trobe’s offshore partners.

If you’re an international student, follow the steps on the international student enrolment steps.

Secure your place

You need to enrol in at least one 15 credit point subject by the lapse date in your offer to secure your place, or you’ll need to reapply.

Confirm who you are by activating your account.

You’ll be asked to select if you are a registered user on the first screen. You are a registered user if you have activated your account within the last 24 hours but haven’t yet accepted your offer.

Your details need to match your offer exactly for the system to recognise you.

Please note: if your application details don’t match your full legal name as they are registered with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), you will need to update your personal details after you have accepted your offer.

  • Click your course name under My Applications.
  • Review your offer.
  • Click Accept in the top left corner to accept your offer.
If you’re not ready to start your course yet, you may be able to defer your offer for up to one year. This means you can hold your place in your course and start your studies later. If you want to decline this offer, click the arrow next to Accept to see your options.

Your official La Trobe student account will be set up within 24 hours, and we’ll email you when it’s ready.

You need to complete all tasks listed as mandatory in the My Tasks tile so you can enrol into subjects. By completing these tasks, you’ll accept all terms and conditions of your study and confirm your details as required by La Trobe and the Australian Government.

If there are any incomplete tasks, you won't be able to enrol and secure your place.

You’ll need to pay two kinds of fees:

  1. your subject fees
  2. your Student Service and Amenities Fee (SSAF)

You may be eligible for Government Assistance, including a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) or Higher Education Loan Program (HELP) loans. Visit the Australian Government’s StudyAssist for more information about CSPs and HELP loans and submit an electronic Commonwealth Assistance Form (eCAF) to access Government Assistance (if eligible).

We'll send an invoice (Statement of Account) confirming your fees and when you need to pay once you’ve enrolled.

How to request Government Assistance

We’ll send an email to your personal email address when your La Trobe student account has been activated. You’ll then need to set up MFA to access your student email and other systems.

Now it’s time to choose what subjects to study in your first study period! Remember you need to enrol in at least one 15 credit point subject to secure your place.

A full-time study load is 4 subjects (60 credit points) per semester or 2 subjects (30 credit points) per term. Your study load affects your eligibility for Centrelink payments and Public Transport Victoria (PTV) concession cards, as well as how long it will take you to finish your course.

How to enrol

Enrol via StudentOnLine, following our steps to enrol FAQ. You must enrol in and complete compulsory modules during your first study period.

If you change your mind, you can change your enrolment later.

Credit for prior study

Have previous study or work experience? You might be eligible for credit that will reduce the subjects you need to complete. You should apply for credit when you accept your offer because applications close before classes start.
