  • If you identify as Autistic, ADHD, Dyslexic and/or another neurotype with neurodivergence support needs, or live with or have a mental health condition, ongoing medical condition or disability (including physical, neurological, intellectual, sensory, acquired brain injury or specific learning difficulty), this can't be used to deny you a place here at La Trobe University.
  • You can discuss your support requirements with an Accessibility Advisor before you apply. There are many assistive technologies available to make studying easier. Some examples include Glean, which has been developed to assist with note taking, and Otter, which is a transcription program. There are also numerous accessibility features within the Microsoft suite and a range of browser extensions.
  • It can be a good idea to investigate what might be of assistance to you, before you commence study. This will give you time to become familiar with how assistive technology can best support you at University. Contact the Accessibility team for more information.
  • Check out our VTAC equity schemes (SEAS) & scholarships for special entry programs.
  • Visit our Future Students website for information on studying at La Trobe.

Starting university can be exciting, but it can also present challenges for many students. Having the right information and support can make the transition smoother and help you succeed.

We offer a voluntary transition programme for neurodivergent students, designed to help you prepare for university life. If you choose to participate, you’ll have the opportunity to meet with an Accessibility Advisor to discuss your needs and explore the supports available to you.

While you aren't required to disclose your neurodivergent status, we recommend considering registering with Accessibility and participating in the transition program to get familiar with the support available and make a strong start to uni.

You can find more information and resources through the La Trobe University Neurodiversity Network.
