Subject options

Industry Placements and Projects (Undergraduate)

From Semester 1, 2026, you can choose to use your elective space to take part in one of the new University WIL subjects. You can choose between an Industry Placement or an Industry Project as part of your undergraduate degree.

Eligibility:

If you have elective space, and have completed at least 90 credit points, you can choose to enrol in either a Placement or a Project subject.

Industry Placement (80 hours)

  • Apply theory in real-world settings

  • Build career-ready skills to stand out in the job market

Industry Project (80 hours)

  • Solve real client challenges in multidisciplinary teams
  • Access academic support and guidance
  • Present your ideas directly to industry professionals

Professional Placement subjects (Undergraduate)

Looking to gain practical experience while you study? Our suite of four University-wide elective subjects is designed to help you explore longer or multiple placement opportunities as part of your degree.

These subjects are ideal if:

  • You have more than one elective available, and
  • You want to build practical skills through placement.

These subjects are available until the end of 2026.

Initial consultation with the Professional Placement Program Coordinator is essential.

Industry Placement subject (Postgraduate)

Ready to build your career while you study? This 15-credit point elective offers 100 hours of placement experience designed to help you develop valuable employability skills in a professional setting.

It’s available to postgraduate students in their final year, across multiple disciplines and all La Trobe campuses.

Student Sourced and University Sourced placement options are available.
