The Industry Placement Minor as four combined subjects leading to a Minor, is no longer available to students, however the individual Professional Placement Subjects are available for enrolment up to the end of 2026. Consultation with the Professional Placement Program Coordinator is essential.

The Professional Placement Subjects, a suite of 4 subjects, are university-wide electives designed for students to explore longer placements or multiple placement experiences within their degree. They are best suited for students who have more than one elective subject available that they would like to use to complete placement.
These subjects are ideal for students who want to:
- Explore different career options
- Complete 100 - 400 hours of placement experience
- Immerse themselves in one or more professional settings
- Undertake 1-4 elective placements

About the Professional Placement Subjects
The Professional Placement Subjects are university-wide electives designed to give you real industry experience and prepare you for life beyond university.
Subjects offered:
Credit points: 15 per subject
Placement hours: Each subject involves 100 placement hours and subject assessment tasks
Flexibility: You may be able to complete one or more of the subjects depending on your elective space, however consultation with the Program Coordinator is essential.

Eligibility Requirements
You may be eligible to enrol in one of more of the Professional Placement subjects if you meet these requirements:
- have elective space available in your study plan
- have completed 120 credit points of your degree, i.e. equivalent to 1st year of your degree
Finding a Placement
In most cases, you'll need to source your own placement. The Professional Placements Program Coordinator will be able to provide resources and support to help you:
- Identify suitable organisations
- Navigate the application process
- Access a small number of university sourced placement opportunities
Use Career Ready Assist to build your resume, cover letter and practice interview skills.
Important: Your placement must be approved by the University before the Term begins. If not approved in time, you will need to withdraw from the subject/s prior to census date.
How to Apply
The Professional Placement subjects are available for enrolment up to the end of 2026. If you are interested in undertaking one or more of these subjects, you will need to email the Professional Placement Program Coordinator.
