## Graduate capabilities & intended learning outcomes

01. Identify, calculate and interpret appropriate numerical and graphical summaries for univariate and bivariate data.

Activities:
Directed Readings 1 and 2: This consists of readings from the prescribed textbook; and online video clips that (i) explain the readings and (ii) cover practical examples using SPSS. Aplia Online Quizzes 1 and 2: This learning activity contains conceptual problems that are based on the material covered in the directed readings 1 and 2, respectively. Students learn from their mistakes by receiving detailed feedback from each incorrect answer. Assignment 1: Consists of 3 short answer questions that involve SPSS, calculations and written conclusions. (Formative Assessment) Online Discussion Forums 1 and 2: Topics covered in directed readings 1 and 2 are discussed by students and teachers via the asynchronous online discussion forums 1 and 2.

02. Calculate probabilities and other quantities from discrete, continuous and sampling probability distributions.

Activities:
Directed Readings 3 and 4: This consists of readings from the prescribed textbook; and video clips that (i) explain the readings and (ii) cover practical examples using SPSS. Aplia Online Quizzes 3 and 4: This learning activity contains conceptual problems that are based on the directed readings 3 and 4, respectively. Students learn from their mistakes by receiving detailed feedback from each incorrect answer. Assignment 2: Consists of three short answer questions that involve calculations and written conclusions. (Formative Assessment) Online Discussion Forums 3 and 4: Topics covered in directed readings 3 and 4 are discussed by students and teachers via the asynchronous online discussion forums 3 and 4.

03. Identify and apply appropriate statistical inference methods for decision making.

Activities:
Directed Readings 5-10: This consists of readings from the prescribed textbook; and video clips that (i) explain the readings and (ii) cover practical examples using SPSS. Aplia Online Quizzes 5-10: This learning activity contains conceptual problems that are based on the material covered in the directed readings 5-10, respectively. Students learn from their mistakes by receiving detailed feedback from each incorrect answer. Assignments 3-5: Each Assignment consists of three short answer questions that involve SPSS, calculations and written conclusions. (Formative Assessment) Online Discussion Forums 5-10: Topics covered in directed readings 5-10.are discussed by students and teachers via the asynchronous online discussion forums 5-10.

04. Compute, display and interpret numerical and graphical summaries and various statistical inference procedures using the SPSS statistical software package.

Activities:
Directed Readings 1, 2 and 5-10: This consists of readings from the prescribed textbook; and video clips that (I) explain the readings and (ii) cover practical examples using SPSS. Assignments 1 and 3-5: Each Assignment consists of three short answer questions that involve SPSS, calculations and written conclusions. (Formative assessment) Online Discussion Forums 1, 2 and 5-10: Topics covered in directed readings 1, 2 and 5-10 are discussed by students and teachers via the asynchronous online discussion forums 1, 2 and 5-10.

05. Apply basic numeracy skills for calculating various quantities in statistics.

Activities:
Directed Readings 1-10: This consists of readings from the prescribed textbook and video clips that explain the readings and cover practical examples. Aplia Online Quizzes 1-10: This learning activity contains conceptual problems that are based on the material covered in the directed readings 1-10, respectively. Students learn from their mistakes by receiving detailed feedback from each incorrect answer.
