This subject addresses La Trobe's Global Citizenship Essential. Global Citizenship is about learning to live in an interconnected world, including the social, environmental, political and economic challenges this brings.

Subject outline

In Global Migration, students study the mass migrations from Europe, Asia and the Pacific from 1800 onwards. Students will examine historical processes shaping migration and group and personal stories of these movements. They will also develop independent research skills to explore aspects of their own family migration stories. Students will examine how historians have researched and written on global migration.
