Subject outline

Students will be offered a 1 week placement (internship) in a business, community, NGO or NFP enterprise. This placement will provide the students with an opportunity to shadow a leader that operates in the community sector, or work with a leader in any sector that operates across sectors allowing both to learn, to mentor and to collaborate with each other. An internship is a learning experience which builds on what has been learned in the University classroom setting. The goal of an internship is to offer students an opportunity to apply their theoretical background and skills to an experiential situation. Although the intern is expected to make a significant contribution to the workplace, university level learning is a central focus of all internships. The workplace leader and university supervisor have two distinctly separate sets of responsibilities. An orientation of one day will be offered to students before taking up the work placement.
