ALLY network

The ALLY Network is designed to help our community better understand the lived experience of LGBTIQ staff and students.

This will help create safer and more inclusive campuses where harassment and discrimination have no place. Celebrating and supporting our diverse communities is about shared respect and inclusive thinking.

ALLY training

Would you like to assist staff and students feel more welcomed and involved at La Trobe? Respect, Prevention and Culture have developed the ALLY Program. To create a more diverse and inclusive culture and greater visibility as well as awareness of the issues facing lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual, transgender, non-binary, intersex, queer, questioning and asexual (LGBTIQA+) students and staff.

Training will cover the following:

  • understanding commonly used terms
  • experiences of young people from the LGBTIQA+ community
  • recognising and responding to homophobia
  • creating an inclusive culture and providing support
  • valuing and celebrating LGBTIQA+ people and culture

We are asking staff and students from across the organisation to join the program as an ALLY. On completing the training, you can then choose if you want to be part of the ALLY network. You will be able to offer information, referrals, and support to LGBTIQA+ students and staff.
