Subject outline

This is one of two parts (PSY4HNA, PSY4HNB) of the Bachelor of Psychological Science with Honours degree. It requires the completion of 120 credit points, either over one year of full time study or over two years of part time study. The main components of the course are (a) a supervised research project, (b) blended seminars on psychological research methods, (c) blended seminars on current issues in psychology and evidence-based psychological assessment and practice, and (d) a blended learning online unit on ethical and professional issues.

01. Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of a field of study in psychology.
02. Identify and critically evaluate the principles underpinning evidence-based assessment of personality and intelligence, including administering and interpreting commonly used psychological assessment instruments with well-developed judgement.
03. Choose suitable methodologies to address psychological questions, and analyse and interpret data appropriately to draw conclusions.
04. Discuss the roles and responsibilities of psychologists in terms of ethical and legal issues, and professional conduct.
05. Conduct research projects that include review of empirical literature, appropriate research design and methodology, suitable data collection and proper analysis and interpretation of findings.
06. Apply knowledge and skills of psychology promoting respect and harmony among all cultures and diverse communities.
