Subject outline
This subject offers an in-depth comparison of legal institutions, legal actors and philosophical, and methodological features of non-common law jurisdictions. The approach taken is to compare non-common law jurisdictions on the basis of their languages, their conceptions of law, their primary institutions and methods of dealing with legal rules. In doing so, students will develop advanced skills in legal comparative analysis and they will be asked to predict likely future developments in non-common law jurisdictions and globally.
