Subject outline
In this subject the objective is to demonstrate how the aspects of social work combine in specific fields of practice, how fields of practice interrelate and the application of generic skills and the significance of all aspects of context when planning and implementing intervention. Students will be introduced to the psycho-social and research knowledge base of a social problem area, key debates, policies, program and service delivery and skills required to undertake beginning level practice in a particular field. This subjects builds on and integrates the core social work knowledge, skills and values that students have studied in earlier parts of the course. Mental Health and Child Protection are the two fields of practice considered.
