POR5ELO

2019

Credit points: 30

Subject outline

In this subject, students will develop a familiarity and understanding of the evidence base related to the clinical orthotic management of patients with complex lower limb pathologies. Sudents will demonstrate an ability to apply and communicate evidence and clinical information to generate appropriate orthotic clinical prescription and treatment planning for clients with complex lower limb presentations. Students will develop skills in the application of clinical assessment, prescription and practical skills in the orthotic management of complex lower limb pathologies with a focus on Knee Ankle Foot Orthoses (KAFO's). Clinical decision making skills and the justification of orthotic management are emphasized with peer based case studies and volunteer patients. Students are expected to apply previous knowledge and skills from preceding subjects.
