Credit points: 15
Subject outline
The aim of this subject is to develop a comprehensive understanding on the relevance of spatial planning at regional scales to promote environmental , social and economic development. This subject will require planning studio work which will illustrate planning as a process of broader policy framing with a special concern on 'space' and statutory requirements. It will introduce major implementation tools for planning e.g. zoning regulations. The studio exercise promotes innovative thinking towards planning issues. Students will complete a case study of a real life planning process and create a plan for a regional area. Topics covered include planning formulation, delineation of an environmental planning region/growth area, problem framing, analysis, visioning, strategy formulation, principles and context of land use planning, and planning statutes.
