Subject outline

This subject expands on the topics presented in the subject Introduction to Microbiology. Some of the most important microbial diseases affecting humans will be studied. A major area of focus is the use of chemotherapeutic agents (bacterial antibiotics, antifungal agents, antiviral agents, and disinfectants) to treat and control microbial diseases. This will help explain why certain classes of drugs and antibiotics are useful against some microorganisms but not others.
