Credit points: 15

Subject outline

In this subject, you will learn the underpinning pathophysiology associated with traumatic injuries of the head, chest and spine, and burn injuries affecting body structure and function. You will build upon your existing knowledge of clinical approach, patient assessment and management and the decision-making process, and apply this knowledge in workshops and simulation scenarios. Communication techniques appropriate to specific trauma patient presentations will be further refined and developed. Emphasis will be placed on the development of rationales for patient management techniques in complex situations where the level of physical trauma is significant.
