Subject outline
In this subject students will develop fundamental knowledge and skills required to care for women and their babies, post-birth, in the midwifery care context. This subject provides a theoretical and practical foundation that prepares students for ethically oriented professional practice and to undertake further studies at more advanced levels in midwifery practice. This subject enables students to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, specialised midwifery clinical proficiency and effective therapeutic communication skills. Students will be able to plan, implement and evaluate midwifery practice in the postnatal care setting, they will be able to function effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team. This subject is delivered via a flexible mode, comprising of E-learning modules, via LMS and face-to-face modes, in a workshop environment.
