Subject outline

In this subject, students will develop fundamental knowledge and skills required to care for patients in acute care nursing practice contexts. Students who enrol in this subject may choose to select a stream that is relevant to their practice. For example; The Respiratory stream provides advanced theory and skill fundamentals for managing high acuity patients requiring lung transplants. The generic stream addresses advanced nursing skills and knowledge in acute surgical and medical units. Students will be able to make independent judgements; plan, implement and evaluate practice in specialty contexts and function effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team. The subject is delivered via a flexible online mode comprising learning modules via LMS and four on-campus workshops (and/ or equivalent online virtual classrooms). Students are supported by appropriate clinical practice.
