In this subject, students are provided with one year of specialised training in practical research. As well as providing experience in research, training is also provided in the communication of research results in oral and written presentations at an advanced level. Students must complete semester 1 and semester 2 of this subject.

Prerequisites: Students must be admitted into one of the following courses: HHHS or SHMES

Special conditions: Completion of a degree including units offered by the Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Microbiology (or equivalent) at an acceptable standard. An average grade of 65% or greater over the 3 subjects, HBS3AHP, HBS3HPR and HBS3IRP.

01. Demonstrate conceptual, theoretical and practical knowledge of an advanced topic of physiology.

02. Demonstrate effective communication skills to explain advanced concepts and research findings to a variety of audiences at a level that is consistent with international discipline standards.

03. Critically analyse and interpret scientific information and data to interrogate assumptions, formulate hypothesises, draw unbiased conclusions and defend scientific ideas.

04. Employ academic and ethical integrity, and scientific rigor in conducting and evaluating scientific research and developing professional practice.
