Subject outline
The teaching practicum C is the third of 3 practicum placements and consists of 20 days of supervised teaching undertaken in a school setting. Over the total period for the four teaching practica of 60 days, a minimum of 45 days should be undertaken in a secondary school setting. For Prac 3 (twenty days): Students are expected to prepare a unit of work in their method area(s), which will be taught over a 4 (four) week period. They are expected to teach a minimum of 2 (two) lessons per day (or the equivalent), according to their school's timetable) in their method areas and undertake a minimum of 20 lesson observations. Supervision will be undertaken in the school by the Head of Department or a delegated supervisor who is a trained teacher. La Trobe University supervision will be undertaken at intervals as arranged throughout the practicum.
