INTRODUCTION TO CLINICAL PRACTICE

DEN3ICP

2019

Credit points: 75

Subject outline

In this subject students will progress their knowledge through the application of diagnostic, treatment planning and technical skills into the clinical environment. Principles and practices will be developed through the direct management of both the adult and child patient, integrating prior learning with new material. Progressive exposure to a range of simple preventive and restorative procedures will be enabled throughout the year. Concurrent simulated activities will introduce the student to the more complex clinical procedures of exodontia and removable prosthodontics. The application of orthodontic concepts in the context of contemporary clinical practice will continue to be explored through interactive discussions, computer-based teaching material and practical activities. Further, students will learn to access, interpret and apply information on pharmacology and therapeutics, relevant to clinical dental practice, by progressing prior studies of the discipline.
