Subject outline

Students gain knowledge and understanding of settler Australian and Aboriginal histories through the lens of childhood and youth studies. The study of historic events, case studies and literary texts will expose students to the changing cultural construction of childhood over time. Students will be challenged to understand their own cultural conception of childhood in order to work effectively in Aboriginal contexts congruent to the expectations of Aboriginal peoples.
