Subject outline
In this subject students will beintroduced to and examine ideas and methodologies relevant to practice-ledresearch. In weekly seminars students will engage with key ideas, theories andmethodological frameworks, which will inform and help refine their researchquestion/proposal and develop a research methodology appropriate to theiryear-long project. Subjects covered in the seminars will include theinvestigation of advanced theory, the development of research skills and anexploration of methodological approaches in a contemporary art and practice-ledcontext. This will be complemented by gallery visits and studio critiquesessions. Students will expand their theoretical knowledge and developcritical, analytical and research skills required to write a minor thesis(exegesis) which through the exploration of content and contextual datadescribes their area of research interest. This subject islinked to the second semester subject VPA4RMB and the writing of the finalexegesis and must be undertaken concurrentlywith VPA4SPA in Semester 1. Honours can only be completed full time.
