How might we define Legal Studies and Criminology as particular areas of academic scholarship and practice? What are their concerns, their uses, and their limits? How do these reflect their origins and development? How do Legal Studies and Criminology fit within the broader terrain of Western intellectual thought? Is there only one way of doing Legal Studies or criminology, or many? These are some of the questions which underpin this subject, and which will be explored through the consideration of concepts and issues that have emerged as central points of contention within Legal Studies and Criminology.
