Subject outline
The purpose of this course is to give students a comprehensive understanding of the different and important practice areas of Australian work health and safety and workers compensation as they are faced by those in Australian workplaces currently. This course covers the main statutory regimes in the Australian harmonised jurisdictions as well as the two (so-far) non-harmonised States; examines the common law duty to take care of workers; workers duties; sui generis work health and safety regimes and workers' compensation and return to work schemes in Australia.The subject will also explore how the work, health and safety system in Australia compares with international systems, and the applicable international legal obligations.
